System Requirements

Shankar Mahadevan Academy makes high-quality music education available from the convenience of home. All classes, course materials, customer support, teacher/student communication, and assessments are conducted online, and for this reason, technology is a key part of the student experience.

For Instructor-Led courses (live, virtual classes)

• Computer with latest Windows or Mac Operating system
• High-speed Internet connection (preferably broadband above 20 Mbps speed)
• Audio headset with microphone
• Built-in or external webcam for video calls
• The following software installed:
  • Latest Google Chrome or
  • Microsoft Edge or
  • Latest Firefox™ or
  • Latest Safari™ or
• Electronic Shruthi Box (Electronic Tanpura or Tambura box) – This is required for classical music courses, and is optional but highly recommended for Hindi Movie and Devotional song courses.
• Electronic Taalmala – This is required for all Hindustani classical music courses (Level 102 onwards).
• For online classes, Zoom needs to be installed. Zoom Test to check Zoom.
• The academy has also been enriching the lives of employees and their families from different companies across India by offering customized corporate programs.

For Self-Study (self-paced) courses:

• Computer with latest Windows or Mac Operating system
• Internet connection
• Audio headset with microphone
• The following software installed:
  • Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer™ version 7 or higher, Firefox™ version 3.0 or higher, Safari™ 4 or higher
